We believe in minimal intervention, keeping things simple and helping natural teeth last as long as possible. We practice this philosophy through these basic ideas:

  • Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID) MID is the application of ‘a systematic respect for the original tissue’. We do this by preventing disease from occurring and intercepting its progress, but also removing and replacing as little tissue loss as possible.  Our approach is to take away the minimal amount of tooth structure and chemically bond composite resins to teeth. We use inlays, onlays and Maryland adhesive bridges to reduce the amount of tooth tissue that needs to be removed in order to reconstruct the teeth and re-establish the dentition.
  • Endodontics (root canal therapy) We provide a high level of endodontic treatment, performed by John Anderson. Access and preservation of tooth structure is vital to the long-term success of a root filling procedure. John has developed a technique to minimally access the tooth and manage the biofilm to enable the host tissues to carry out the healing process. John took a special interest in Root fillings ten years ago and gained and MSc in Endodontics in 2014. He has since travelled to Florence, Copenhagen and San Diego in an effort to develop and improve microsurgical techniques. Dentists in the local area extending from Worcester and Tewksbury to Bristol and across to Witney refer complex cases to him at Minchinhampton Dental Practice.
  • Tooth straightening Gone are the days when we would crown every tooth in order to produce aesthetic cosmetic smiles. In tune with MID we use techniques to align teeth, then whiten and finally add a small amount of composite resin to create a natural, harmonious smile for our patients. Our other dentist on site, Jessie, uses the Inman system together with whitening and additional bonding of composite resin to transform smiles.
  • Hygiene services are the cornerstone of a modern preventive practice. Healthy, disease-free periodontal tissues (gum and bone which surround the tooth) provide a solid foundation to allow us to return teeth to function. For patients who may wish to access our highly skilled hygienists directly without seeing a dentist, we offer the option of Direct Access.
